in the evening alyson and i went to a spanglish conversation exchange event.  it was like speed dating except minus the dating.  for 5 minutes you and your partner would talk in english or spanish and then for the next 5 minutes you would switch and every 10 minutes you would switch to a new partner.  it was really fun and i want to do it again.  one guy with terrible english asked me if we could practice during the week.  i said sure cause he seems very nice and he reminded me of my dad.  he said he was in his 30s, but to me he looked older.  but i am pretty bad with ages.  i thought my parents here were in their 50s, but since they have a daughter who is 38, i’m guessing they must be in their 60s at least.  also, before you start warning me about this and that, i know not to meet strangers in dark, secluded places.  always public places, always when its light out.  there was one guy there, who was an english speaker, so i didn’t get to talk with him (thank god) but he sat near me and my first speaking partner so i could hear some of what he was saying, which was pretty distracting from my conversation.  something like he is 24 but in love with a 27 year old but she has a husband and kids but he and she are still in love and going to run away together.  okk….
