recap june 26-28

june 26- i rode a horse.  my horse was grumpy and kept neighing and walking off the path in the wrong direction/not following the group and stopping to eat grass.  i was a little scared since i dont really know how to ride a horse and if he decided to sprint off into the wilderness, well there would be nothing to do but go with him.  we saw some interesting argentinian dancing while we ate asado (basically bbq).  I played with a puppy. the puppy licked his father’s face a lot.  this was really cute.  I swung on a swing.  I went on a seesaw.  I slid down a slide.

june 27 I don’t remember what I did this day.  it must have been fairly boring.  hmm.

june 28 I cant remember what I did this day either.  it was either june 27 or june 28 that after the hospital R and I decided to walk to the super market and buy to boxes of alfajores and milk and walk to B’s to wait outside her door and scare her/surprise her.  we waited about 30 minutes but she didn’t come.  we ate some alfajores.  it was good.  When she did come home she wasn’t too surprised to see us on her doorstep because we had been sending her cryptic text messages to try to prompt her to come home faster.  her host mom was napping on the couch so instead we went to my house.  on the way we decided to rent a movie.  we were looking at movies by almodavar but instead got a movie called “la comedia de la vida.”  we got to my house and put it on and that’s when we realized the movie wasn’t in english and it wasn’t in spanish, it wasn’t even in a language we had ever heard before.  we put on spanish subtitles and followed along pretty well, but the movie didn’t have a plot and it wasn’t the drama we had anticipated.  40 minutes in we turned it off.

the internet tells me its actually a really great movie:

FACT: an “alfajor” is a delicous cookie type thing that is usually made with chocolate or dulce de leche.  I will bring some home.  if you find me in the first few days I am home I will give you one.  if you wait more than a day or two to find me they will all be in my tummy.  sorry.

“alfajor” is pronounced ALPHA-WHORE.  which is hilarious to me.  because instead of “alpha male,” it’s “alpha whore.”  no one else here finds this funny.

i wish alfajores would be made with dulce de leche AND nutella in the middle AT the SAME time.  i will experiment with this when i go home.
