july 12 — running out of time

last night (monday night) we went to el tiempo de la bomba, or something like that.  its a well known, respected percussion group/performance.  they improvise and there is one “conductor” that gives hand signals to everyone else to coordinate them.  usually they invite a guest to play/sing for some of the performance.  its AMAZING and i wish i had learned about it before, i would have gone every monday night.  i also went last week.  its a two hour performance and at the end (with about 10 minutes left) people are so excited by the fantastic beats that the people in the center start a “mosh pit.”  i dont like that word because to me it has very weird, negative, violent, delinquent connotations and it wasnt a negative thing at all.  it was a very happy and joyous event.  so i will call it: close joyful dance.  last night i didnt join, but i did last week.  alyson and i jumped in holding hands and it felt like we were swept up my a rough, but pleasant sea.

instead of working on my project ive been planning my trip.  i feel like its more fruitful.  but my project is going to be awesome anyway.

the plan for saving money?  not eating food.

  • Tuesday July 19 — San Luis.  6:55 PM leave San Luis and arrive at 11 PM to San Juan

  • Thursday July 21 — leave San Juan in AM for Barreal p 368 (4hrs from san juan, ONLY TWO BUSES A DAY)
  • Friday July 22 — Barreal (maybe leave in evening for San Juan)
  • Saturday July 23 — leave from San Juan and go to La Rioja (5.5 to 7 hr trip) (10:25, 11:25, lots of options)
  • Sunday July 24 - La Rioja p300

    • paragliding and sky diving ? (!!!)
  • Monday July 25 — travel from La Rioja to Jujuy (12hrs travel, 6 pm SC, 9:05 (this is the only cama), 9:40 SC)
  • Tuesday July 26 — Jujuy

  • Wednesday July 27 — Jujuy
    • park del rey
  • Thursday July 28  — Jujuy then Puramarca — after visit quebrada can go straight to puramarca
    • quebrada de humahuaca (2.5 hrs from Jujuy, 1.5 from puramarca )

  • Sunday July 31 — back to Jujuy — get on a night bus to go to BA (4:30 pm)
